mh bulbs

hey everyone, so its come time to change my 250w mh bulb for the first time, i was wondering if anyone could give me advice on what name brands to look for and a good place to order from. thanks for your time

I really like my ushio 1400K bulb. Everything in the tank seemed to grow nicely with it and I bought an xm20000K bulb, used it for about a day and it seemed to make everything to blue for my liking. If your bulbs are a DE halide bulb, I could let you try the 2 that I have to see what you like. As far as I am concerned a guy has to buy alot of bulbs to find the one that is good and you like. For 250w (either DE or SE) my personal favourite is the Phoenix 14000K which will run about $65-80 each. It produces very similar spectrum and PAR when compared to the AquaConnect 14000K which is a rather high end bulb retailing for $140-160 each. So the Phoenix is quite a good deal. This produces a great color, slightly blue but not overpowering. For quite a blue look the XM 20000K is a nice bulb.
